Thanks,

I guess my main worry is the thickness and overall quality. The ones I had installed are so thin (i reckon 2mm at the most), which doesn't help keep the sound level down (114db, measured at 45mph on a straight road without any sound proofing in the interior)

I have various sound level recording devices, the joys of being a producer.

the car is loud, at 100km/h you are looking at one hell of a noise. granted it's not enough to do any damage but it's uncomfortable enough to have to shout to the person next to you

Also the bug isn't the best place to record sound using a handheld device. the problem lies in the fact that the roof + floors act like massive repeaters, which can mess with the reading.

I reckon it's more like 100+- at 50mph without any sound proofing and a basic carpet set. I'd like to knock off 30 from that score with the ideas I have planned. A bug can be silent, I'm sure of it!

The compartment behind the rear seat, thats your main source. I pulled all my carpets and foam and removed the rear panel for my speakers so i could drill holes for my oil cooler and now it is really loud, can hear everything. With all that in its still not silent but a lot better. aim for the rear of the car, the front isn't as bad.

If you ask Ivan (from volkspares)to get you a set from BBT4VW they have good stuff, or even from wolveburg west

Volkspares do not only get from Empi, but the good stuff cost more and takes longer for him to bring in.

But you have to ask for it.
