Hi all
Apart from the obvious cooling plate issues and the fact that one would have to cut the engine bay is it possible to fit a 2lCJ motor into a beetle.
What would have to be changed on the motor or box.
Thanks

Re: 2l CJ motor into a bug
I am busy doing exactly that... my problem holding me back at the moment is finding a decent case. I have 2 cases, both scrap and they dont come free either....

Re: 2l CJ motor into a bug
I have a complete motor not quite sure of the condition (was part of the deal when I bought my DC)
I have someone that is looking for a motor to fit into his bug, he has three motors but in parts apparently one is a kombi motor that another forum member is looking for.

As I may be stating the obvious, the type 4 engine will not fit in its normal form, but Impi made a Fan shroud to convert to upright, not sure if he still has in stock.
Some one once mentioned that FFR in CT also had the Porsche copy
Just make sure the baffle plates in the fan shroud is correct or you will overheat some of the valves.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: 2l CJ motor into a bug
You could also do a "Cali conversion", wich uses 2 sets of upper T4 cylinder tins and a type 1 fan + alternator. Named after a guy called "Joe Cali" who did one.
Like this:
If it's for a baja bug then there's space to retain the standard flat fan. But you should then attach the inlet ducting from a 411 sedan to the fan to draw cool unheated air from higher up.

Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.

From another post, this is an impi shroud:
Think he recently mentioned that he is moving into another direction and no longer do engines.
