Late Bay replacement windows

Post by brucet »

Hi ALl,

I am looking for a replacement cab window (drivers side) for my bus. Been to all the usual retailers and, dont laugh, even tried VW with no luck.

Please let me know where I can purchase a window.

Thank you

Cut a template or take the other window to PG Glass, they will send it to Cape Town and cut you one and temper it

Thank you. I have contacted them. (A guy by the name of Tony) and he will find out if its possible and get back to me.

I went to the PG shop in Midrand earlier today and was told that it was not possible so will be interesting to see what they come back with.

Thank you again.

I have used Uitenhage PG glass a number of times, so if you do not come right, give him a call, and he will tell you the right guy to talk to.

maybe he will give you the Cape Town guys name and you can deal direct.

My Beetle and Fleetline glass was done that way, so I know it can be done.

There is a company called C & C glass in JHB, but they only do bulk orders, not one off's

My guy said that he does it but the risk is on you, if you send him your Passenger side glass, he will cut an exact copy for you.

But feels you should be able to get one on the internet from one of the many aircooled sites here in SA

So if you do not come right, you wrap the glass up nice, and send it to me, I will give it to him, and when done, send it back to you.

Cost and risk is on you.

OK thank you very much Herman. Will let you know. I may have a lead on a second hand one so fingers crossed.

Thank you JDT1976

Thank you Terry. Is it plain glass or tinted and would they fit a late bay? What would you like to sell one for?

I bought one on Saturday and I didnt check it properly asit was pretty dirty. Its not tinted (which i only realised when i put it next to the old one after cleaning it) and it has a few small welding specks on it (about 5 to 8) which is a bit disappointing since i drove 160kms to get it and paid R200 for it.

For any stationary windows on a bus I'd say just have one cut out of 6mm laminated. Laminated is not ideal for winding windows; for that you'll really need toughened glass.

Have you tried Van den Brink Motors for a used one?
