Re: Beetle Headliner piping "thingemagic"
Normally they stitch a loop into the head liner, then they insert a spring steel rod that has been per-bent into this loop.
This rod ends then go into pockets in the roof edge on the inside.
Some cars have plastic clip on edge pockets, others have metal slots in the inside roof edge.
Hope this helps

OOHHH!
Is yours Plastic covered steel, that holds the lining in place and has a "C" shape, Like my Fastback has a two tone one of white and black.
Or is yours the one that looks like rolled up rope thats covered with the same liner as the roof or side panels.??
The top one you need to get from a rubber shop, like Pro Auto Rubber, the two tone one you will have to import, and the rope one your upholsterer guy will make for you.
Its called piping

Re: Beetle Headliner piping "thingemagic"
Eugene, I'm assuming this is for a Beelte...
It sounds like you're looking for the windlace trim that sits in the groove on the leading edge of the B-pillar.
I don't know where you can find this new, but you can try to salvage some from an old Beetle roof lining.
Alternatively, you can ask your trimmer to sew two pieces of thick cotton rope side-by-side, into a piece of your new roof lining. He needs to create something that looks like a figure-of-eight. The new B-pillar roof lining is then sewn into the valley between the two pieces of rope. Slot the piece of rope on the non-face side of the roof lining, into the B-pillar groove, and secure with the metal clamps.
