Goosemobile mobile again!,...but?

Post by Haans »

All,...got the Goosemobile onthe road again and went to PE to have a bit of a powpow and "bragg" with friend Manny.( came to see his children ans so on)
However,.... on the way back,..we noticed that when you want to leave a green robot in a "spirited" fashion,.....she becomes a bitch and gives us a shudder!!!,
Now we have replaced the cables innner and outer,,....and made sure of the " kink" next to the gearbox. ...we don't want to re -invent the wheel,....and feel we need to make incremental adjustments,......which way ? Is the question.
More kink or less??.
Any ideas?

See viewtopic.php?f=4&t=35802 for a recent discussion on the Bowden tube sag.

Also check the condition of the engine mounts.

Has to be more. If there's still a shudder check the gearbox mountings etc.
cheers

Right scanned the topic,.......will add washers and see what happens. We are around25mm on the " bend " .. will push to get 30mm.

If you place grease in the tube before you fit the cable you save to go to 45 MM bend.

Thanks Herman,...I don't want to sound too clever,...but.
We've greased well,....new mount front and back.with the +-30mm bend
At the conveniant time I will jack it up and look at the whole lot.......I've got a gutfeel that the last bend in the tube just before it comes out the tunnel is the culprit,......we had an issue to get the cable through.
Thanks guys that is why I like this forum!!

You will notice that the more power your engine has the more the bend has to be, that is if you hot foot it.

If you take it easy, you will get away with 25mm bend.

The more sudden you apply power, the more the motor/gearbox moves, the more the shudder.

If you have a dog clutch, its even worse

Do not think its the 1st bend, unless its not a smooth movement.

Its an Hot Rod term for a clutch that bites, or not, in other words it does not slip, mostly used in racing cars.

Has a very short peddle travel between disengage and engage.

Thanks Herman and othr contributors,...... yank the bowtie tube or something like that,.... out added some decent washer to give me a more or less 40mm kink,...... all sorted!,,,. Works like a dream,..... even got a squeek out of the tires protesting!,,,

Now back to Haans,..... some serious polishing to do on saturday.
Then off to trimmer with headlining from Vintage when it arrives.
