Headlight Question !!

Post by spicydave »

Hi All,

Sorry for all the questions

My headlight is "stuck" on brights

1 - Park, dash light on
2 - High Beams

If I pull the indicator lever up nothing happens

Can this be a relay on the fusebox ?

It's probably the headlight relay getting stuck. Before automatically replacing the relay, try briefly shorting the various terminals against each other. I found that solved the problem for me a few times in the past. (Don't ask me why!)

On one of my buses I had this problem and couldn't solve it. Months later I discovered an ancillary switch that was for spotlights I had removed. When I switched it, then the dipswitch suddenly worked again.

Also check all your fuses.

Don't assume. Check the diagram on the fuse box cover.

I would check a wiring diagram; you should be able to find one online. IIRC the headlight relay has 5 terminals, if that's any help.

Twist your fuses or replace it, you may just have a dirty fuse connection.

it could be. I once battled with an electrical issue on my lights.
What solved it was removing each fuse one at a time, then sanding the contacts (in the fuse block) before refitting the fuses. The contacts were the problem, not the fuses...

Its quite possible that both your bulbs might be shot. Do you have another switch you can borrow/swap just to rule out a faulty switch ? How do the rear lights look.
Ask someone to check the back for you while you run rear parks, then brakes, then parks with brakes and then both with each indicator going. If you have a disco effect then you will have to check earth connections as well. Do same with front (i.e earth connections)

My rear lights is all ok

I tried all combinations

My rear light , front lights, indicators all work fine alone and combined

Just the dim lights not working

Is park lights suppose to burn while the dim / high beam is on as my park lights burn all the time

I do have extra bulbs that I will also test over the weekend
