Next week

Have to get a jack and wheel brace from a scrap beetle and tie down the battery as there are no mounting points to secure, I hear they look for this ?

As to battery mounting points - They've never looked for it, and I've been to various places over the years. Maybe I was just lucky.
So do you take out a temporary licence every time you take the car out somewhere? Here in Brackenfell the Traffic Dept is full of cr@p when asked for a temporary licence. You have to swear that its only for taking the car to roadworthy or police clearance and not to gallivant about.

No. The disc is still valid, so assume I am allowed to drive on that for now, may be wrong but no stopped yet.

If the car is still registered in the previous owner's name, it is fine. If the car is registered in your name it means that it has a new registration number and the licence disc is not valid anymore, even though it has a future expiry date. I you get stopped and a cop picks up on this you could be fined.
