So this is the tube that came out, slightly difficult to pull out the old cable in some spots little tight but not extreme, seemed like just gunk inside and a slight bit of damage on the outside.

Should I rather just go get another sleeve/bowden tube, or just clean out the inside of the old one and maybe add some more washers to get a bigger "kink".

Saw a few YouTube videos and it seemed they use 3 quite thick spacers on the bowden tube - is this same for all models ?

Edit - seems I mixed up a spare Handbrake cable with a clutch cable

Seemed to have found cause. How would I have done this ?

Can I have the fingers replaced at Ferro Brake or just buy a complete kit ?ImageImage

Broken pressure plate diaphragm spring is just wear and tear. You can have it rebuilt, but I prefer to buy new while they're still available. Likewise the bowden tube.

Alert should carry them, or get it for you.

Midas carry some models, but not all.

Midas have a LUK Clutch & Pressure plate (same as original) for R1,400

Alert parts have a powertorque for R780

Assume the Midas one is the one to go for ?

Edit: Granslam also have the Powertorque but price is a bit high.

Oh FFS - the saga continues.

Now discovered the needle roller bearing in the flywheel bolt is toast also - must have been from the damaged pressure plate as it did not look like this when I did the engine work.

Do I buy the whole Bolt with bearing inside or can I just get the bearing itself ?

If anyone has a part/bearing number or supplier to hand to save me driving all the way to the VW guy I normally frequent. i.e Will a bearing supplier be OK ?

It's called a Beetle flywheel gland nut and it's a single part. Not too hard to find.

Found the needle bearing at Shelleys that goes in the nut. Was a bitch to get the old one out

Just torqued the pressure plate to flywheel bolts to 24 N.m - seems very small torque by feel.

What is the reason for such a small torque or is my Torque Wrench out of spec ?
