How much to renew rear part of floor pan

Post by No More Landy »

While laying my VDO sensor cable I unearthed this nasty surprise despite the owner insisting bug was rust free.
How much will a new piece of floor panel and a panel beater cost me all in to weld up ?Image

If thats the only rust you have then you doing good for such an old car.

Why not try Bugger , his banner is on top of each page here on the forum, if in JHB, or Grand Slam if in CT.

Is that under the seat where the battery is? Then the damage might be caused by battery acid and will be very localised.

Have you checked underneath the car to look at the entire pan ?
Is the pan covered with rubberising ?

If that is on the passenger side it might be worth inspecting the pan some more.

Although rubberising is good it can also hide plenty of rust.
I have poked off some rubberising on my kombi and there was just rot under it.

So far under the battery is toast and the Passenger Rear Footwell.

Is it better to buy an OEM type foot-well panel or just get the panel-beater to install steel plate ?

Your car , your choice

If you want to keep value up, then fit the right panels, if you need it for transport for now and can do the repair at later stage, then fit a steel sheet.

What Herman said, if you're not fussed about it then steel sheet otherwise get the correct pan sections to keep it looking original.

Correct pan sections were R800 for the rear quarter of the pan at FFR when I last found out 3 months ago, full halves were R2000.Im going to use steel sheet to replace mine just cant afford the R2000+ for a full half
