hi guys
i am embarking on a beach buggy adventure , doing something ridiculous , i want to ask the boffins whhich engines would fit on/in a old model beetle pan. im looking at good performance but the least hassles to fit. open to suggestions.

KISS - Keep it Standard and Simple
If I were you I'd go for a standard 1500 or 1600 single port with a large air filter and 4-into-1 exhaust. Only modification I'd make is an oil pump/external oil filter. It increases your engine oil capacity with about 500mm and offers better filtering than the standard Beetle oil strainer...
