I want to fit new flexible hose between the brake fluid reservoir and the master cylinder...
anyone know what hose to use?
I had a brake shop tell me that normal fuel/oil hose is OK, but I've since learned otherwise

Re: brake hose?
Tony I use push lock hose or the stainless steel braided hose from a hydraulic hose company.

Re: brake hose?
Im not sure if you referring to a Beetle or a Kombi, but on a bus that plastic type clear hose as used originally is available from Goodhope spares. I don't think there is anything special about it, but ive used it over several years and have not had an issue.

Re: brake hose?
Thanks guys.
I'll be heading to Good Hope spares soon to get something from them, even if it is a crimped hose that I can cut apart...
This one is going in the beetle, but it shouldnt make any difference what car its in

Re: brake hose?
Hyflo has a selection of suitable hoses for brake fluid application. You even get blue ones. According to their chemical compatibility table (on their website), Nitrile, Neoprene, and Nylon have good chemical resistance to brake fluid. There's a Hyflo in Bridge Road, Stikland, Cape Town. I've bought suitable hoses there.

I went to Hyflo and their salesmen said they have nothing that they can help me with
I did manage to find hose at another supplier, but I didnt get a name from them.

Re: brake hose?
I got the same reply from a salesman at Hyflo, but studied their online catalogue myself and went back and pointed out to them what I wanted. So far, five years later I haven't had problems with the hose I bought from them. I've had similar issues with other parts at other suppliers where one salesman would tell me that they can't help me, and another salesman in the same room could.
