the three holes make it a kombi case
take a picture from the other side and we'll tell you if it is a universal replacement case or "just" a kombi case

There's no need to modify anything for a late bay. The 1600 engine was a standard option across all baywindow models, even after the introduction of the type4 engine option for model year 1972. Late baywindow 1600 buses require a specific (original, not modified) rear carrier (cross-member), as well as specific (original, not "conversion") engine tins to fill the wider space of the later (1972-on) engine bays.

those are stock tins, but also known as conversion tins due to the fact the baywindow has a T4 engine bay and those tins allow you to use a T1 in the T4 bay

How would I wire up the alternator as it's not the same as the type 4 engine that came out.
What must be done so this alternator will charge .Has anyone got a wiring diagram for this.

That's not an alternator, its a generator.

Lets start with finding out if you have a regulator for that generator?

Hi Sean and all that are helping me,
No I have not got a regulator. The type 4 engine's alternator has a 4 pin? on the back of the engine bay.
Some questions,
1/Do i go straight to alternator but on a tight budget
2/Will the generator be ok once wired up for a bus.
3/The exhaust that is on there will it be ok I mean clearance and all.I should get the tins this weekend
4/I have to use the 1600 as 2.0l motor to much monies.

The 1600 runs like a dream as I got it on a stand and starts.

I really appreciate the advice even though for some its silly questions.

Being a later model bay window, an alternator would be more period correct for it.

There is however nothing wrong with a generator. The voltage regulator that is in the bus from the type 4 is a 3 pin and completely irrelevant to the generator. You must get a Bosch generator regulator. They quite pricy over R1000 the last time I checked, or look for a second hand one.
