Hello, (on my type 4 2 litre CU heads - square exhaust port)
I have read that the head gasket for the type 4 2 litre should be dropped. What are the views of everyone here?
I had the cylinder and the head directly together with no gasket and have some blow by on the number 2 cylinder. All the others are fine and sealed.
Is this just a bad cylinder, head, or mechanic error? Or should I have used a cylinder head gasket as comes with all the gasket packs for the type 4?
Marc

I’ve never had a motor without them in. I think most of mine have 2 installed per cylinder. This is for the deck height though, not sure of how it effects the sealing. You would have to skim those heads and barrels to avoid this re appearing.
