SHOOT MR. SPICE.......; ARE YOU NOT GOING TO LEAVE ANYTHING FOR THE REST OF US????

CHECK ON THE TYRE ITSELF, IT SHOULD GIVE YOU AN INDICATION THERE. THAT LOOKS TO BE IN REALLY NICE CONDITION.

620KPA/90PSI COLD PRESSURE.

Currently Scooter tyres fitted

4.00x8"

I'll get some 4.60x8" tyres fitted with the correct profile

MARK
Way too high MARK ..

Start off at 20 PSI, Approx. 150 Kpa or 1.5 Bar

Then as you drive feel the trailer tyre, and increase the pressure till it is the same temp as your front wheels, that is the pressure your tyre is happy with.

Should be around the 2.2 Bar

See side wall for max. pressure but do not run at this unless you overloaded.

Herman, he's asking about the tyres on the trailer, not the back axle.

i wouldnt think you'd need more than 1.2bar on a lightly loaded trailer.
If you are using scooter tyres, then use the specs for a scooter. The trailer with load will probably weigh about the same as a scooter with driver and they've both got 2 tyres, so use that as your starting point.
The softer the tyre, the more the sidewall adds to the suspension. Too hard and the trailer might begin to bounce across the road

I would suggest a low pressure as a starting point, maybe 1.5 bar. Those trailers bounce up in the air all over the road due to limited suspension, a softer side wall as Tony suggested will help with this.

Me too...

Sorry did not make myself clear.

When you tow a trailer, the conditions are the same for the tow car as well as the trailer, so if your tow car front wheels as slightly warm, the the trailer should have the same temperature, if under inflated, or be overloaded, it will generate higher temp, and heat up, this will kill the tyre.

Old tyres must be driven with more pressure as the side wall has not got the flexibility anymore, and will crack on heat.

THESE NUMBERS ARE WHAT ARE ON TWO DIFFERENT TYRES THAT I HAVE, BOTH ON THE TRAILER AND THE SPARE.
YES, A SLIGHTLY SOFTER TYRE WILL GIVE IT A LESS BOUNCY RIDE.
THE PROPER TRAILER TYRE HAS A SQUARE PROFILE AS OPPOSED TO THE ROUND PROFILE OF THE SCOOTER TYRE. I WOULD THINK THAT THIS WOULD GIVE THE TRAILER A BIT MORE TRACTION AND STABILITY DUE TO A BIGGER CONTACT SURFACE. TYRES GENERALLY TRICKY TO FIND AND NOT CHEAP.

That is what I wanted to hear

I found the 4.60-8" Tyres from a place in Johannesburg

I'm just waiting on the email with pictures as I don't want to buy then they drop off some slicks or serious mud tires

That is also wheel barrow size tyres, so also confirm that speed rating is not 5km/h.
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.

Haha. Yes. I found a really nice pair of these wheels with good tyres for R50 at my local pawn shop and grabbed them. When I got them home I realised the tyres are not high speed rated, the split rims were about half the thickness of the trailer rims, and there were plastic bushes inside, instead of proper ball bearings.
