Post by Dirkhuman »

Hi guys i have a 2l cj moter but my main carb is running hot and my other carb is runing smooth cold.

I have a salex 32/34 pdsit -3 carbs on.

Bith main is 132.5
Airs are 140
Ideal 55
Neadle and seat are 1.2 on the main carb and 1.5 on the other one.

The main carb is running hot im not sure why. I can get is colder and it has a black smoke telling me its rich. Anybody tell me why or what it could be

Check jour float levels and make sure electromagnetic idle jets are not loose.

One possibility could be a leaking float that took in a bit of fuel. Are the plugs on one side black?
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.

Both sides must have 1.2mm needle+ seat. Fuel pressure is critical with those tiny-float carbs. Most electrical fuel pumps have wat too much pressure so it forces fuel past the needle + seats.

Jetting is correct only if you use the standard central air cleaner setup with it's long intake runners. The long runners reacts with those carbs at full throttle to have full load mixture enrichment.
If different individual aircleaners are used, a drastic re-jetting is necessary to prevent loss of power and overheating.
Is this engine in your beach buggy?
