VW Split VIN PLATE

Post by Gaddiator69 »

Hi

Could anyone shed some light. I am looking at a Split panel Van with the following details on a plate:

214B EA 001 3560
4-09/67
2051 001 342

Could anyone tell me where this was built and if there is anything i should be aware of.

A Fleetline panelvan VIN would start with 2051 according to Merlin.

Interpreting Fleetline VIN plates

The VIN plate is found on the bulkhead behind the driver’s seat.

Typical Fleetline VIN plate layout:
214B EA 001 XXXX
X-XXXX/XX/67
2051 XXX XXX

Where:
214B = Panelvan RHD, Brazilian; 234B = Kombi RHD, Brazilian; 264B = pick-up RHD, Brazilian
EA = ??
001 = ?? (This number is the same on all Fleetlines)
XXXX = sequential production number

The numbers on the middle line and their pattern vary, but the last number is always 67, which has led many Fleetline owners to incorrectly assume their buses are 1967s.

The bottom line is the VIN, where:
2 = Type 2
0 = ??
5 = 1975
1 = panelvan, 3 = Kombi, 6 = pick-up
XXX XXX = sequential production number

Hi,

That plate belongs to a split Fleetline Panel Van.

Bamboo body colour / Light Brown upholstery / Light Brown cards

'75 year, production number 1,342.

I'd like to add your plate to my registry. The more plates and info', the more accurate the breakdown gets.

Would you mind emailing me photos of your plate and bus, please? I'm looking for photos which show the bus as original as can be, please. I will PM you my address shortly.

Kind regards,

Nic
