spare wheel

Post by Nick555 »

HI Guys been a while since i have been on the forum,

Just need some advice on the spare wheel for my bug would be appreciated, the 75 beetle i have came stock with 15" wheels but i see the spare is also 15" and because of this the boot doesn't lock it latches so i can drive but it doesn't lock as i cant push it all the way down. now im not sure if the spare is meant to be a 15" if so what size tyer should i fit on the spare ? all 5 of the wheels are the stock royal style as i want to try keep it original.

thanks
Nick

Your bonnet should lock properly with a 15in spare shod with 165R15 tyre. Wider tyres can cause issues. If it won't lock with a stock spare, then there's probably some collision damage or similar that has changed the dimensions of the spare wheel well slightly.

as far as I remember the latch pin is adjustable
No sense being pessimistic. It wouldn't work anyway.
