Dual Circuit Master Cylinder for Beetle

Post by 73type2 »

I've never had a Beetle's brakes fail on me but I'm considering changing my master cylinders to dual circuit, just for a bit of added safety. Are there any suppliers in South Africa? I'm in Cape Town.

A common mod is to install the mastercylinder from a golf mk1.

Thanks buggyfan. It looks like it just bolts on, with some re-orientation of steel lines, of course. I would also like to keep the reservoir in the stock position. Could this part be bought from Goldwagen?

Yes, you'll be able to source a mastercylinder at Goldwagen. All you need to do is put a 30mm spacer between the Mc and the pan.

Will that master cylinder work with all round drum brakes?
We use them when we change to front disc brakes, but as I said, not sure about 4 drums.
Why do we celebrate the guy that invented the wheel??
Surely we must celebrate the guy tat invented the other three

just a 30mm spacer, all you need is move the cylinder away from the "firewall" by 30mm

I take it then there will be tweaking of the brake rod to get the correct clearance of ? 5-10mm or less?
