Hello again ive got a 72 bug that I have a problem with the fuel door

The problem is every time I full in petrol i have to get out my car pull the pin thing back then close the fuel door the push in the door opener on the inside of my car to keep the door from swinging open

Is there a vid or pics on how it's supposed to work cause it's driving my insain

It could be that the spring that the small cable runs through has broken and needs to be replaced or that there is a lot of dirt in the sleeve and it is hindering the cable from operating properly.
you would have to remove and take it apart and clean it if this is the problem.
