AAPV numbers are stamped when the vehicle is stolen and recovered or if built up and no VIN number exists etc No way from dating based on that

Maybe post some pictures of the actual vehicle and can identify based on features found on model year
If it's too low, you're too old

Hi Thanks for quick reply. It's an RSK kit car so unfortunately I don't think pictures will help.

When one registers to build motor vehicles in South Africa, you get issues 2 sets of 3 numbers from the dept. of transport.

The manufacture then registers the in between 6 numbers to make up the 17 number Vin code.

If you have a builders number on your car, which if you go or contact the dept of transport, will tell you who made it when it was made, where in SA it was made, what it was when made and also which number it was on the production line.

When a stolen car was recovered and the numbers filed off, you got Cop numbers to get it back on the road, also if modifications or home built cars also got there numbers.

PS, the cops only use AAP on chassis and not sure which they used on engines numbers, all others are builders.
