Morning all,...I have come accross 12V flywheels with an O-ring in the centre on the crank side.

Removed Haans's flywheel,....still 6V starter ,....and no O-ring???

Should I put one back?
What is the purpose of it?

Your speedy response will affect the the assembly time!!! ......ie eagerly awaiting a response!😎

Think late type flywheel had a groove that take the o-ring.

Early type had thin gasket. Critical to maintain correct end play while preventing oil from leaking through.

Thanks Dawie,....it seems there was particals of a thin paper gasket,.....did not see a visible "groove" for an O-ring.

So it seems that this engine needs only a paper gasket ?

What say the rest ?.......just spreading the net a bit wider.
