Boet Bugger !! so in essence what you saying is that the tension is at the ends of the spring blade pulling the axleand wheel down,.....thereby "trying" to lift the car !!. Therefore a compression force on the g-box........that is tihe complete opposite the way I was trying to work this lot out!!!!
I had it that the ends of the blades creates a compression at the wheels therefore pushing the wheel deeper into the wheelwell,...hense the tension at the g-box!
Never too old to be learning/correct your line of thinking !!

By your previous post you are looking for a Rear anti roll bar set up


If you go around
Say right hand corner
The pressure forcing left wheel in is used to lift rhs wheel inwards to keep body as straight as possible


My Squat bar is more for Hard pull offs

do some reading on what a rear anti-roll bar does to a swing axle car.
Yes you can buy them. From what I've read, I'd rather not.

The track racing guys modify and upgrade the existing Z bar

I did the same for my Bloodhound bug when we went to Hakskeen pan

Main reason aswell was to eliminate the rear wheels tucking in if I would have turned sideways losing it on the Sand
I managed a 215Km/h

On the pics you can see how the rear wing works very well with the Airflow of the Dust

Herman has a strap on the fastback,.....just before the shock. It seems to do the trick

If you want the car not to sit down like a lam dog when pulling away, you set up the spring or fit coil overs.

If you do not want the wheels to fold under the car on a sharp turn, then fit straps. or a strong bunggy cord from top shock mount around axle and back to shock mount.

If you want to have fun or are a windgat with your Aircooled, then fit both

With the extra power I have in my Fastback, my Fleetline as well as my 52 Beetle, I have fitted coil overs on all 3 at the back.

I have been thinking about this for a bit and decided to go my own way with a CC. However, I want it to attach to the forks, as opposed to the gearbox - like the original EMPI's used to do. So here is idea at this stage (including a mid-mount):



The plan is to have the brackets laser cut from 5mm mild steel, and then welded up together as shown (Might add an extra gusset in the middle). To fit it to the forks, my plan is to drill into the forks and install steel M8 rivnuts which allow the thing to be bolted to the underside of the forks. Everything else works exactly the same as the other types of CC. Just need to find a suitable leaf spring and some straps for the swing arm tubes.

As far as I can tell, the forks are hollow, and are far enough away from the gearbox mounting frame bolts, so shouldn't present a problem for drilling.
Any thoughts from the forum?
