Toyota 3Y to VW

Post by AlanH »

OK, so I'm not doing the conversion but selling the 3Y motor that I took out of the Kombi.
I need to know if the flywheel and clutch are standard Toyota or VW. It had the APEX adapter plate fitted.
I would like to put the adapter kit together in case someone is interested in such a conversion. The engine is going back into a HiAce and I need to know if I must leave the Flywheel and Clutch on the motor.

Much appreciated.

Ahh, thanks. makes sense. It's just that the flywheel stood quite far off (30 -40mm) the engine which made me doubt. Maybe it is to compensate for the adaptor plate, but that would mean it is custom?

Alan there are so many home made conversions out there most real crappy workmanship and botch attempts you could end up with some real beauties. I think the Gilo Engineering is the best out there.

Thanks Terry,
Engine is now sold and went with the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate. Hope it fits whatever they are going to fit the engine into.

This was an APEX Adaptor plate which I still have.
