Split buses in ZA are, generally speaking, 'rare'.

May I make a suggestion, considering your location? Tell the owner to visit the docks - as a matter of urgency - with some cash in hand. 'Speak' to one or two of the locals working there - with the cash - and see what transpires.

The bus is unlikely to head north by land, in my opinion, and it certainly won't be driving around with a new paint scheme.

It's hiding somewhere there, in a building - or a container.

Lastly, we subconsciously think we're all pretty safe driving around in our buses, but this is not the first theft [attempt] I've come across.

Hey there All,

Deon's bus was stolen from the AVONDALE station in PARROW, CAPE TOWN. Just spoke to him to see exactly what happened, his wife parked it there and when she got back it was GONE!!!!!

PLEASE keep an eye open for the bus, the poor guy and wife are stressing "A LOT!!!!" as would any one of us with a GONE bus :( :(

Thanks Jolas for the heads up, I will get onto some of my police connections with pics and ask them to take a look too - also know some folks that are involved at the harbour and get them to look out too!!

No way!!! Could they have stolen a more noticeable bus??? :(
Maybe hire a small chopper and do an air search.

Merlin's suggestions are also good. If it's been stolen for export, it's only a matter of time before it shows up in the UK or Aus. Maybe post the pics on the SSVC forums and VZI and the ozzie bus forums (kombi club and DSK) and ask folks there to keep an eye out.

Volks, there's been a rash of Beetle thefts over the past couple of years, and almost none of them have been seen again; probably stripped for parts. Let's hope buses are not becoming the new target.

Our cars are very easy to steal. If you park your bus out of your sight, please use several visible security devices, such as steering and gear locks, even a sturdy chain between steering wheel and pedals. Also some hidden security such as ignition cut-out and fuel cut-out.

I think kneecapping would be an appropriate punishment for the scum who did this.

Im with Nic on this one... look out for it at the docks and spread the word and posters of it. Drop an email to your contacts, post on your FB wall, send via BB groups etc etc..

Also look out for any signs of it closer to where it was stolen.... in the Northern suburbs like Parow, Bellville, Goodwood, Durbanville areas...

Speak to Henry at Berg Motors to have him and his guys keep an eye out and an ear to the ground... speak to anybody that any parts that could be needed for it, can be bought from or even sold to...

Lets try and find this one guys...

Lets get back on topic!

How is it that if you buy a vehicle without registration papers, youve got years of grieve to get it sorted out,but it seems you can export a car while not having papers or being the rightful owner?

We must stop seeing everything in black and white, we must learn to express ourselves in pastels...

A bit like the bus in question. I hope it gets found. I dig that bus, and I've met the owners, and I hope they get their bus back undamaged.
