It has been fabricated out of 2 each 4β PVC 90 degree bends, which is attached to a ΒΌβ steel T-shaped bracket so that it can be mounted under the dash. The speakers are 6β West Marine speakers; I chose these because they are white and they match the PVC. Upholstery foam has been inserted between the speakers to help separate the channels.
The U-shape of this enclosure allows it to wrap around my Sirius Radio component. There is abolutely no interference with pedal operation or leg room.
The PVC parts included 2 of the 4" 90 degree elbow bends, along with a 4" (PVC diameter) straight piece cut down for the center splice, and 2 pieces cut so that they can be slipped into each end. These 2 pieces were needed because the speaker mounting screws would have ended up just on the inside edge of the elbow bends. After marking the locations of the screw holes, I used a Dremel tool to create dimples so that the drill bit would not travel over to the seam.
The bracket was fabricated from 2 pieces of 1/4" steel, one piece was 4" x 6-1/4", with a second piece measuring 4" x 4". The pieces were welded together to create L shape measuring 4" and 4". The mounting bolts are 4 each 1/4" x 1-1/2" stainless steel, with 2 each 1/4" x 1". The longer ones are used for mounting the PVC to the metal bracket (the top front bolts also double as mounting bolts from the bracket to the dash).
To be totally honest, the sound is very, very good, better than I expected. Please let me know if you have any questions, it would be my pleasure to share the details with anyone that is interested.
