I am running a 12V jabsco pump to cool a generator with sea water... they are reliable. And besides, anything that can pump sea water will survive engine coolant.

If you are looking for a electric water pump for the engine this might be an option
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pro-66225bk

Sequential dump valve... you are wasting your money. Rather get one of those Xcell cheapy dump valves. They work excellent!!!! It's actually oring sealed and not just a friction seal. I've got a couple of them in stock.

Even though you are running 17" mags there should still be enough space underneith the wheel arch. The next option would be above the gearbox, but that will need the dog box removed.

Hi 4Age, this exactly what I have on at the moment, if this dumpvalve is fine where would the best vacuum source be from?
I remember now that when I was driving on the highway in 3rd and 4th and then boosted I could hear the dumpvalve blow, but not while accellerating from robot to robot, could it be the vacuum source on the Dellorto was only strong enough under high loads and cruising speeds? It has only one location just beneath the butterflies, maybe drill and tap into the inlet manifold further down from the carb?

Maybe move your vacuum source further down the plenum.

The weak link on the 1.9 WBX was the rods, they let go in STD form and created lovely breathers in the casing. Consider changing them, as well as adding oil cooling, you going to need it.

I saw some great results with stock waterboxers ant turbos on shoptalkforums. HP high in the 200 almost 300HP and torque over 400N. Not sure if it is the 1.9 or other.

For electric waterpumps look at http://www.hot4cold.co.za/products.aspx?prod=21 no idea about pricing though.

Any update on the power etc?

Hi Wentzel, good to hear from you again, I have read up on the Wassers and their results, very reliable and detonation resistant, you can get very good power and reliability from these motors, though the guys on shoptalk use mainly 2.1L and make insane power, I'm stuck with the 1.9 but it will suffice, I'm not aiming too high this time and expecting maybe around 180HP, don't want to risk losing the entire project :) .The motor was run with turbo previously and just being run in without any coolers and stuff made about 160 at .4 bar boost, I read some guys boosting up to 2 bar on the wassers, I'm busy with radiator and piping, bigger chargecooler radiator, reservoir and so on, will update on the WBX Turbo thread as soon as I can get my SIII phone talking to my computer properly :jerkoff:

What boost are you planning to run? I have a low/high switch for 0.5/1bar and want to turn it up to maybe 1.5 but first want to install a methanol injection as safegaurd and have to change the clutch so it will keep up. Then I'm just hoping the gearbox will take it.

I'm sure. You know the feeling of I want more by now

I dont want to go more than 1bar, maayybe 1.5, like you said, you always want more :x
I'be running her normally aspirated for a few km's just to make sure everything is ok .
I need to sort the plumbing nightmare still, not sure about where all the pipes should go and where to put expansion bottle, then wiring for the fan also.

1 bar boost with the right turbo will make more than enough power.

We have done the test on a 2275cc type 1. First ran it with a "jackie chan" t28/t3 turbo. It made 108kw @ the wheels @ 0.6 bar boost. Then changed the turbo to a Garrett Gt28 disco potato, it obviously boosted way earlier because of the ball bearing core.... and made 148kw at the same boost level and same ignition timing.

Just shows you, it's worth the extra R7k purchase price to go for the more expensive setup.

Very interesting Louis. I can unserstand that the turbo will make a difference but it will also be interesting to see what that turbo will do with more boost! The performance is dependant on volume of airflow and not boost if I remember correctly. That is why two turbos will make more power than one at the same boost level. Am I on the right track?

The volume of air is what makes the difference. So you can run at a safer boost level and make more power with a good turbo.

The same probably counts for twin turbo setups. eg, the two turbos on the t4 setup equates to roughly the same size as one GTX35 garrett.

You must keep us up to date on your twin turbo build Louis.

it also helps if you are in the turbo's efficiency range.
If you have two similar turbos, one at 0.8bar, eff=70%, and the other at 1bar eff= 50%, the one with lower boost will make more power, prob close to 10% more.
Remember, hot air expands. And its not boost that makes power, its the AMOUNT of oxygen in the combustion chamber. Which is why you intercool
