Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

I met the owner once in Sedgefield. He swears it's an 1951. I tried to correct him, but I ended up losing that battle. :D Sometimes it's better to let people believe what they want to. It is still a nice car however.

Q. What is a “Zwitter”

A Zwitter is a Beetle manufactured between October 1952 thru March 10, 1953. The Beetle retained the rear window in two split halves, but had the newly redesigned dashboard more commonly seen in the Oval Rear Window Beetles thru the 1957 model year. Unique and scarce.

Zwitter is the german word for hybrid.

So how did my thread with pics of a nice Beetle on a car-inspired family outing end up in unneccessary criticism by a bunch of armchair Beete fundis more than a year later? Sometimes the negative comments on this Forum really SUCK
