Porsche 550 Spyder replica
First time I've ever seen one of these. Apparently SA made, and one of only 18:

Re: Porsche 550 Spyder replica
Hey Fig,
Yep, Garth Waberski from Universl-products.co.za has made a few. He's very involved in SA Motorsport, (Now Karting) but you might remember DAW Racing in the 80's and 90's'. I think he might have picked up a few molds from the likes of Kit Car Center etc.. Makes a few VW based and space frame cars like the 550 you saw.
cheers
Alan

Re: Porsche 550 Spyder replica
I also saw it in Parkhurst area,
The owner is a tall guy, looks quite funny. His entire head sticks out the top of the windscreen...
Very cool car though

Re: Porsche 550 Spyder replica
I have posted these pics before, but the only time I have ever seen a completed 550 was at Porsche Centre Jhb in 2008 - don't know if it is the same car as in Fig's pics?

Not the same car; lots of detail differences. That one in the Porsche Centre is amazing!Pine wrote:I have posted these pics before, but the only time I have ever seen a completed 550 was at Porsche Centre Jhb in 2008 - don't know if it is the same car as in Fig's pics?

Re: Porsche 550 Spyder replica
Hi guys ,
this is rather funny to find this with you all talking about me that Spyder you spotted outside Founous is my wifes .
Ive been doing it up since when you saw it , added a helmet fairing , customised the gauges (done them in the origianl
3x array , but customised the facings ) changed the seat colour to cream , gone for the racing look with metal in the interior and
much less black carpeting and imported the period rear lights.
Its looking amazing , whoever wants to see it is welcome to come by my showroom in Parkhurst (65, 6th Street,Parkhurst) . If Iam there
you'll see the car parked outside . Iam just spraying the engine at the moment and then doing stickers (the mobil horse and race entry no. on all sides).
ps: Ive also changed the seating height and angle of the seat so that someone taller like myself (6,3) fits better.
Kind regards in Jesus Christ
Jonty
