split busses and the forklift

Post by jolas »

I stopped at Sean's place this week to quickly sort out a problem with "the Lemon", my Autovilla, the roadworthy guys failed it on a tie rod end which needed replacement.

I arrived at an interesting time - it seems he was getting busses "down" to prep for the car show

Anyway it made for some interesting pics

I parked in the designated Autovilla parking

And then inside the factory, the forklift was bringing down the '59 single cab and the '67 Kombi (which I owned for 1 day exactly)

And then a '69 single cab was going "up"

Was quite nerve wracking to watch this lot

With the rims and tyres on and the increased height of a bay window bus, there was about 1cm to play with !

Yes, that's the main thing. I probably have 10 years worth of projects ahead of me, but they must in the interim be preserved and kept out the way.

Paul, stop worrying about kombis on the forklift, they don't weigh much at all.

This Buick was however a little dodgy. My 3 ton forklift cant lift high enough, so we had to use the 2 ton, but kept starting to tip, so 5 fat guys on the back of the fork lift took care of the problem......
