VWSA commissioned a UK firm to do the design and prototype work.

The Beetle: The Chronicles of the People's Car, Vol 2 Design and Evolution, by Hans Rudiger Etzold.

In fact Etzold doesn't mention the number of these built. They get a passing mention at the end of a section on ACVW prototypes that never made it into production.

That there where 3 built to completion and he also know who had them.

He also told me why the 3 doors and a few other things, but cannot remember them now, do not want to put misinformation out, but I am sure if you got hold of him he would give you more info to keep here on the forum for future reference

VW historian Simon Glen from Australia sent me this picture of the same car last week. It was taken 2 - 3 years ago and shows John Lemon writing a note to the owner of the car, offering to buy it. He never got a reply though. The exact location where the picture was taken is unknown, but it could also have been in Knysna.

I do not have the concept sketch. My friend was involved in the project. He has a few docs on the vehicle. I'll ask his permission to go through them and take photos to share.

Hi

I assume it was this one that you managed to purchase?

It looks like the same one with EC plates earlier in the thread.

Congratulations. :hangloose:
