Hi All,
Due to the large demand from overseas members, I am now making the Moulds for the Left Hand Drive type 3 dash.

Will be making both the old Wraparound, and the newer Normal Dash Cover.

The Finnish will be the same as the RHD dash as posted in the following thread >>>http://www.aircooledvwsa.co.za/viewtopi ... 72&t=20365

Should there be more info, and as the mould progress, I will be posting the info here.

Your feed back will be appreciated.

Is this a new design dash, or is it a OEM standard dash.

Have you a photo of a RHD dash and is it possible to get one good dash for sizing.

Have to have one to make one, ....so to speak.....

Hi Retrovan,

The pics above are of newly manufactured 1303 dashboards but follow the same design as the original OEM versions. I have some pictures of the originals on my PC but its currently in for repairs... When i get it back i'll post them up...

I happen to have a spare dashboard in my garage which i was gonna use as a test dummy when i got to the stage of testing out methods to restore my bugs interior. You can definetly take it if its being used towards the goal of New replacement 1600S RHD Dashboards... it would be my pleasure! :flash:

Dunno how your gonna get it to PE though...

If u can figure that out, it yours!

Peace

Hi OD_1,
The getting to PE is the easiest of the hole job....

Would have to see the dash in person to know for sure, but it looks possible...

Only one problem, we need to take a pole, here and UK, and Aus, to see what the market is...

As the cost is high to make the mould, as well as to mould each unit, we need to know how many we can spread the cost over, and if the guys will pay that amount for a new dash.........

Suggest you start a thread here and maybe on The Samba, and other Beetle Forums, to get others to show interest and how much they are prepared to pay for it.

You may get an idea from my "Dash" threads. What are the price of the other RHD dash (Turkey)

What you say..............

LHD Dash cover is still in progress, do not fear, we have not stopped working on it, just loaded with work, so all has slowed down a bit.
This enables the process to be done right, the 1st time, so no reworking needed.
Will keep you informed and post 1st off here.

Till later guys,

Thanks

Herman

Hi All,
Just an update about the tooling for the dash mould.

Standard mould now complete, and will now be sized to length, then the "Wraparound" inserts will be fitted, and tested.

Not far off now, two weeks tops, maybe, if that famous Irishman stays clear.....

Will let you know.

Hi All,
Just an update on the Left Hand Dash.

The Moulds are now done, I have checked them and are now being polished.

The machine has been booked for Friday when we going to do both 1st OFF test run.

If all works out, the units will be moulded with in next week.

Will keep you updated on this thread.

Herman

PS;- Tramp, your dash has survived, in its original condition, and will be coming back to you with a new unit.
