718RSK Front Suspension problem

Hi guys,

I need some advice..... My 718RSK setup with Beetle linkpin front suspension is too high and hard. With the previous modification i modified the top beam leaf springs to freely rotate in the beam thus only using the bottom beam leaf springs. This works on the lowering but i believe this places alot of stress on the bottom beam torsion springs and it makes the front very hard.
What is the best for lowering the front? Adjustable beam or dropped spindles?

As far as I have heard, its much of a muchness, adjusters are easy to set back to stock so would be preferred by most.

Have also heard of guys freeing both top and bottom and fitting Volkspares Coil-overs shocks.

As the car is so light in front, I think this may be the more softer ride.

Nice car, why not start a project thread and tell us more.

dont fit the coil overs. The shock's top mount isnt strong enough to handle the load you will be placing on it.
Adjusters on both beams with dropped spindle is the best way to lower a car.

Your car is so light that there is only 1 real solution for you. Change the tyres and rims - you need a bigger sidewall and low air pressure (around 0.6bar) to make things soft.
We had a 356 on this forum a while back who tried everything but didnt trust the lower air pressure. After about 2 years of faffing, he finally lowered his air pressure and finally had a result that he was happy with.
