A-Frame

Hi Guys and Gals

i searched this forum and the web i cant find any documents on A-Frames
i would like to build one. or steer me to a document somewhere on here.

i would like to know about dimensions etc. and fixings to fix to the torsion bars etc.

Someone posted this either on this forum or another, but hey I can share as that is what we are here for right? :hangloose:

These were the specs:
Two long legs 1000 long x 25mm x 25 mm x 5mm angle iron
Legs 800mm wide
Two parallel sections at ball side 100mm long and the other ends
bend parallel with vehicle c/line ( 80mm )

Um, careful with that A frame, it might/will damage the front of the car. It will need to be hitched lower than the front suspention in order to not hit the spare wheel well, and i dont know of a lot of ferrari's, lambo's and lotus' with tow bars. You rather need a step down type A frame that has a kink in it so that it can be hooked under the nose and still be put onto a not super car/slammed to the ground golf's tow bar.

The A frame shown is fine for beach buggys but not for beetles!!! unless you make up brackets to replace the bumper mount brackets, then you can easily hook up to those, but rather the front suspension.
From fastest to slowest:

Birkin race car, not much is standard
Lotus Elise 111R, almost everything is standard
'75 SP 1600 with a few mods
B8 A4 Avant tdi, towing made easy

What type of fixings are best to connect to the torsion bars? I was also thinking of making it a stepdown type.
