DIY - Lowering of a Beetle rear suspension

Post by Stütz »

For those folks with the mechanical prowess, or if you are just interested in reading how it's done, this level 3 out of 5 step-for-step guide by Mark Walker in Volksworld Magazine may be just the information you are looking for to lower the rear of your Beetle.

*You are cautioned that certain steps of this process are dangerous and should rather not be attempted if you do not have the correct tools and equipment.

NO, NO, the spring plate needs to be supported before being removed off the splines, can't beleive they actually publish this crap just saying that you might break bones if you are not carefull :jerkoff: . WTF, safety first, leave nothing to chance. A jack & a chain around the axle of the jack & chain then bolted to the top shock support is the way to do it. Never attempt just wedging the spring plate off, you will break bones.
For what it's worth, ignorance has no limits ......
