It is short for Utillity.

Ita an Australian term use for a "bakkie". Chris is right "UTE" = Utility. The Chev Lumina comes to mind. Here it is a bakkie and in OZ its a Ute.

It is also an accroynm for Piece Of Shyte... Which I think is the same as the 1st description... :finger4u:
