Buggy build date

Hi

I am looking at exporting a couple of buggies. As with all these over-the-seas endeavours, there is a lot of red tape and hoops to jump through.
One of these stumbling blocks is the requirement to supply the date the beetle pan was married to the buggy body to effectively create a new form of vehicle. Currently the registration documentation / certificates for SA buggies only refers to the first date of registration (but this I think relates to the beetle) and there seems to be a lot of confusion under owners of these vehicles as to what exactly that date is and where to find that date.

Is there a register or a website or an institution that keeps this date on file, that I can access? No use someone (read "government") collects and keeps the information without the ability for mere mortals to access it

Anybody have this issue or know where I can look to get access to these dates?
