Auto Villa

Post by ianbrown »

Hi,

We have a VW/Jurgens auto villa with 2.0 air cooled motor that's not going too well.

I understand there is a conversion that uses the Toyota Y2 engine.

Can anyone advise if this is a good option and recommend a person that does these conversions.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Regards,

Ian

Hi Ian

You can pretty much throw any engine in the back of your Autovilla, and many have before you.

However, with a water-cooled conversion you introduce a lot of new problems to solve, especially with cooling. I've seen a lot of WC converted VW buses that have endless overheating hassles due to the length of plumbing in the cooling system.

Type4 2-litre engines are not cheap to rebuild, but they are very robust and make adequate power. Best of all they're engineeered for your vehicle.

If you must go the WC route, speak to Pierre Eksteen (username Bugger on these forums) of VWTech, who does a 2-litre Golf conversion with hidden radiator.

For rebuilding your air-cooled engine, speak to Pierre, or Bruce Cronk in Roodepoort, 0845021099
