This car has been described as a rare gem.
I have attached four pictures of the vehicle. The vehicle has been in the family since 1981 and has done 52664 miles.
It is in good running condition, with some body rust. We started it up the other day and it started first time. The brakes need some attention before driving the car on public roads. There are other minor repairs needed, which is expected with an old car.
The car is garaged in Port Shepstone, KZN South Coast, and is available to be viewed by arrangement.

That is - without any doubt, a 1969 model. Asking price?

At best its a 1968, but it would appear that the right fender was replaced on a 1966 car.
The front indicators are 1966 or so, but the rhd fender has the tank flap which only came in on the 1968 model.
The 1969 model was never made in South Africa, and the Europe models has the new nose.
As far as I know.

Not wanting to turn this into a pi$$ing contest but.... Look CAREFULLY at the pictures & allow me to educate you:retrovan wrote: ↑Sun Apr 09, 2017 6:57 pmAt best its a 1968, but it would appear that the right fender was replaced on a 1966 car.

It is a 1969 1600A Notchback. Same as mine. Which was built in SA. In fact both my '69s were - as were 3343 others. I have papers to prove that.
The 'long nose' models were built from '70-'73 and these were not available in SA. PM me your email address then I'll send you a copy of the article I wrote on the SA type 3s after 15 years of research into the matter.
It has the correct front indicators, tail lights & rear reflectors for a '69 A model.
The right hand fender is correct for a '69 A or L model - it does not have the dimple in the fender, the flap is released from the inside.
The doors are correct for a '68-'69 A or L models.
The door trim panels are correct for a '69 A model.
The pattern in the rear seat upholstery - visible underneath the fluffy cover, is correct for a '69 A or L model.
The instruments & steering column is correct for a '69 model.
It has the 4 way flasher switch in the correct place for a '69 model.
The engine is correct for a '69 model - that aircleaner was only used in '69 - it has the control flap for positive crankcase ventilation.
Yes, someone could have changed all of this - but that seems unlikely given the overall condition of the car. If we had the chassis number it would confirm my model identification.
A few items are not standard:
'69 A models should not have bumper over riders, wheel trim rings, the chrome moustache on the bonnet, a horn half ring. With the exception of the moustache, I have added all of the above items, as well as a few others to my own car. Looks more refined that way. See the attached pics:
