4agedub how well does the 2.1's FI work on a T1 1915cc would it be suited or a waist of time and money? Or would it work as a cheaper initial option to the gotech route... could you give us a ball park for the gotech system? Pritty Please?

Here is someone who did just that:adamart wrote:Hi,
you obviously know the whole conversion business - I am not technical too glued up(theoreticaly yes).
I've got a 2 l Type 4 engine-I do have a 76 Beetle S and 912 Porsche-
I would like to get the type 4 built to fit into my 912 - with a nice hp output.
do you know of somebody who can do that in a normal price bracket.
If you don't know ,maybe you can put me in contact with somebody who does it.
regards
Martin

What are the pros and cons of building a Deutz- sleeved Type 4?
Is the stock pancake cooling sufficient?

Once again, ask IMPI. He built a Deutz-sleeved Type 4 pancake engine for his 411. Had some cooling problems because of the Turbo as far as I remember (it was 8 years ago), but he'll give you the exact details..

Cheap when compared to importing hop-up parts for a Type 1.Pine wrote:BTW, the title of this thread is an oxymoron as well - monster cheap Type 4 engine

Re: Building a monster (cheap) type IV engine
A few yrs ago I helped Pieter the P03s with his Deutz 105mm T4 for his stockcar. It ran a dry sump, 48IDA'a blablabla. We had some cooling problems until we added a radiator fan with some aircon ducting which first flowed over the oil cooler and was then sucked into the fan cowl. This did help a bit but the heads still ran hot and pinging was a problem on 102 octane. I have a set of these Deutz sleeves and a future project will be a monster 3l T4.......

Are there shops that do these type 4 conversions on vw buses, the whole A - Z of the conversion, I just pay ,collect and enjoy?4agedub wrote:I've done the type 4 into 912 porsche conversion before.... it fits nicely. I actually think that I've still got the exhaust and engine mount for that conversion.

Re: Building a monster (cheap) type IV engine
Can anyone suggest someone who can modify the Deutz sleeves to the correct length?
