I was about to comment about the fancy perspex fan housing....

Dont worry about the balance pipe. I have been advised by some of the old school guys that with twin carbs like the IDFs (1 carb per cylinder basically) you need to cut a little port between the two cylinders to make the car idle better and have smoother driviability. But mine idled at 600rpm without issues. Never saw the point.

Its looking good!!!

I was also wondering about the grease nipple, thinking that I have never seen any nipples there.... good idea.
If you want to keep the nipple clean (so you dont get sand and dirt in it, the easies way (if you dont find grommets) is to leave a dab of grease over it after lubrication, then when you need to grease it next time, just wipe the grease and dirt off and you have a clean nipple.

I like nipples ;-) :flash:

Ok oviously Pine is gonna be bundu bashing and driving on dirt roads and so on and will easily pick up alot of sand and dirt since my king and link pins are going to be done by Werner Alker and will most probally have the grease nipple in the same place but i wont be exposed to as much dust/dirt as pine's buggy will be would it be advised to cap the carriers like pine wants to do ?

Nope, the intention of HW2 is not to make it an off-roader, but a mild street buggy. But you'll be amazed with the amount of muck you can get on a normal tarred road...

Unless I am missing something fundamental..... Does the extra grease nipple REALY help that much? The existing on, when 'filled up' with grease, does it not get forced all the way around the 'pin'(in that sense, 'reaching' the newly installed nipple?)?

Does anyone have detailed pics of the internals of the link pin?

if you looked cafefully they show u where to put the link pin bushings in at the correct position the extra nipple that pines spindles have is just there to ensure extra lubrication for the link pins (watch the movie makes more sence)

Update 21/06/09

Haven't done a lot the past week, been quite busy at work. Haven't been able to get the fan housing back yet, but hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday, as I am going to Mozabique from Wednesday to Sunday - so no work on HW2 next weekend either....

But in the meanwhile, a short clip of HW2's engine with the exhaust fitted

....stay tuned for more :hangloose:
