So today body roller build continued, here some more pics.Unfortunatly metal didnt arrive today but got a call from them saying, it will be ready tommorow.

Picture 1: had some slip pipe that will be used to allow the body to sit at different heights
Picture 2: cut bigger slip pipe to 30cm long and the smaller one to 32cm long
Picture 3: So that the body once ontop of the roller doesnt get damaged lying on metal found a piece of roofing beam. and cut it to 1.35 metres.

You have to open up the case to fit the 1600 pistons and sleeves if it has 10mm studs then get 8mm because they stretch beter heads have to be opened up or if you can get 1600 tp heads...id say if you could rather pick up a complete 1600 motor or long block it would save you alot of trouble just keep an eye on the junkmail ads...

you can look for good sleeves and pistons you should be able to get new from a normal spares shop maybe even sleeves but i doubt it,then there is importing but thats money and then you might aswell save some more and import a big bore kit...the studs are the things that hold the sleeves in place and bolt the heads to the sleeves...you can measure them with a vernier (dont know i that spelt right?) if not mistaken vw changed the studs when the 1600 came out or just before dont exactly know but 8mmshoul fit

Its the case that has to be modified to to take 8mm studs and thats a slep and money...i really think you shoud look for a complete 1600, i think i saw one for 1900 (might be vrot, but you never know)in bf's junkmail ads,its in the end gonna be cheaper than a the engineering and stuff...or you could just fix up the 1300 for the time being, play with it learn how it works, and drive it like that till you find a good donor 1600...i dont think a 1600 beetle is that much faster than 1300 so you're missing anythin

My plan was to rebuild the engine myself, (could be a desaster) but will be a learning process then if all fails will have one built up will see hopefully tommorow engine will be out then can have a look at it and see what has to happen from there on

Dont worry its not that hard to put together a motor...just work super clean, mark things the way they come off and torque al the thinigs that need torqueing correctly....
