Date for a Type 4 Engine

Post by JamesD »

Hi guys

I got a lonely type 4 looking for a hot blonde - interested in walks down long roads and spending evenings watching tv...

Just jokes. I'm looking for the closest year that this engine was produced in - CA 026 841, its a 1700 with the twin carbs.
We just want to check that the engine year lines up with the body...

Anyone have years and the corresponding engine numbers?

Thanks

I haven't seen the grid style date > engine number sheets for Type 4 engines yet but I found this:
CA 49 Kw 66 Hp 1679 cc 2 08/'71>07/'73

You're right too. The type 4 engine was used in the type 2 body.

Thanks Guys, ya, its a type 4 in a type 2. Was mainly looking to narrow it down a bit to a specific year. I'll do another search later in my free time. Effort is much appreciated though :D will tell you if i find anything. i know EMPIUS.com only shows up to type 3's

Assuming "Generator" refers to a dynamo, I must confess to never having heard of a VW Type 4 style engine, on either a VW 411 & 412 or VW Type 2, being equipped with a dynamo, rather than an alternator! :?
