Some folks seem to be in a great rush, like Archie has to travel great distances rather than visit exotic places. Currently Archie is sitting in my cupboard awaiting either my departure for Thailand on the 14th of October, or the departure of my colleague to the US and hasty forward travel to Henry and the UK in a weeks time. What's the verdict, should Archie accompany me to Bangkok, Pattaya, Koh Chang, Chang Mia, Saraburi and then back to Papua to continue with the American to the US end of November (Thanksgiving with Henry), or should he go straight to the US? I realise things don't move fast when I'm at work in Papua, but they could get quite exiting in Thailand. What do you guys think? I think some cultural experience is called for rather than rapid mileage. Lemme know...

I would love to see him in all sorts of different places and different settings. But my initial idea with Archie was that he visits as many forum members as possibble in their own working or living enviroment.

It now has been four months and he has only seen two members.

At the end of the day, this is all about Archie-The Traveling Beetle, not Archie the visiting Beetle. I agree with Ron, let him see the world as well as South Africa. He will make a return to SA where he can then visit as many people as possible in as short a time as possible, but while there is a chance for something different, lets do that.

BTW, my timetable still has me sailing from France to Ft Lauderdale mid November, maybe he would like to do an Atlantic crossing....

OK,it's up to you guys to decide where he goes next.

Looks like he will be in Thailand and in the USA before the end of the year.Tony, are you guys returning from Ft Lauderdale back to France?

Maybe Henry can then pass him on to you for the Atlantic crossing and on to ZeroAxe.

Good point, it was the start of it, afterall... But fear not, I still have some diary updates to do. There are quite a few ACVW enthusiasts here too, to which Archie needs to be introduced... Archie's diary will pop up in new posts a few times in the near future.

That is an option, but not sure I will be onboard for that crossing. Otherwise around 10 Dec, we leave Ft Lauderdale for the Carribbean. He is welcome to join me for a month at sea and then take the flight back to SA with me in Jan or Feb when I get my next leave.
