The Flying Bay

Post by Pine »

This '72 Bay is at a scrap metal dealer in Meyerton, and will be cut up early next week - not a lot on it, but it still has the front and rear suspension, and maybe a few panels that may be useful. PM me if you need the details...

72 - Lowlight, with front disks and rear drums. Large tail lights - option of Type 1 or 4 engine.

Larger rear vents than on a '71 and earlier...

Call me mad but why would this be cut up?

Surely it's the basis for a project or are we too picky these days?

That is the perfect body for ChrisG.

Most likely will only pay scrap price for that body.

There are a few panels & doors there that I need. But until I have heard from insurance I am not going to be buying much. If someone else is going to salvage or check out the bus please send me a pm

I would love the front suspension (would take the bus and store it if I had the space for it, project post 2010), unfortunately, there is no way I can make it to meyerton in the next few days. Anyone willing and able ??

Chris the easiet way of telling a 71 (and earlier) from a 72 (and later) is to have a look at the rear vents. The 71 has a 'halfmoon' vent (right of pic) and the '72 has a more squarish vent (left of pic).

71 was the first year of disk brakes and the last year with small tail lights and the halfmoon vent
72 was the first year with large tail lighs, larger vents and last year for the 'lowlight' front indicators
