Ode to the exported Fleetline

Post by Pine »

(Sing to the tune of Bob Marley's 'Buffalo Soldier' :twisted: )

Fleetline Kombi, Brazilian 'rusta...
There was a Fleetline Kombi in the heart of South Africa,
Stolen from Africa, brought to Englanda,
Rusting on arrival, rusting - no survival.

I mean it, when I analyze the stench -
To me it makes a lot of sense:
How the Fleetline Kombi was the Brazilan idol,
And he was taken from Africa, brought to Englanda,
Rusting on arrival, rusting - no survival.

Said he was a Fleetline Kombi, Brazilian 'rusta -
Fleetline Kombi, in the heart of Englanda.

If you know your history,
Then you would know where you coming from,
Then you wouldn't have to ask the,
German splits 'Who the 'eck you think are..?'

I'm just a Fleetline Kombi, in the heart of Englanda,
Stolen from Africa, brought to Englanda,
Said he was rusting on arrival, rusting - no survival;
Said he was a Fleetline Kombi in the damp of Englanda.

Rusty, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!

Fleetline Kombi puffin' through the land, wo-ho-ooh!
Said he wanna run, then you wanna camp,
Puffin' through the land, yea-hea, yea-ea.

Said he was a Fleetline Kombi in the damp of Englanda,
Fleetline Kombi, Brazilian 'rusta,
Rusting on arrival, rusting - no survival;
Shipped from homeland to the heart of the Englishman.

Singing, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!

Puffin' through Graaff Reinett in the heart of South Africa;
Troddin' through Johannesburg, a Fleetline Kombi -
Rusting on arrival, rusting - no survival:
Fleetline Kombi, Brazilian 'rusta -

Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!

Fleetline Haters, buggy drivers.
Stirring on the forum, just for :bn:s and giggles.
Fleetline haters, fastback owners
(not yet drivers), but aspires.
Looking for trouble, will find their cars under rubble.

Singing, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!

Who knew, marley had a VW for a daily:

At that time, Rastas were still pushing handcarts," he said, so Cole had to convince Marley that "those days were gone".

"I then threw the keys to him," he said.

The former Kingston
College and Vere Technical schoolboy footballer said on his return from Africa, Marley had added to his fleet by acquiring a VW van.

"That's the one down a Culture Yard in Trench Town," he said. That vehicle, Cole explained, was oftentimes used to pick up the Marley kids and used to carry out everyday chores.
