Frank I buy seatbelts from the scrapyard and inspect them really closely. I do try to get rear ones though, as the chance of them ever having being used (never mind subjected to shock loads) is minimal. But then I'm a tight git,,,,,,

There is a place in Parow Industria (I think) called McNaughtons that does bits and pieces for truck body builders - I understand they may have new.
Think you will be custom making the mountings though.......

Voortrekker road. Near to the Halt road turnoff, head towards town, 100m down on your right, there is a Dunlop store that has 3 point harnesses. Also, if you take the Halt road turnoff and go over the bridge into the darkside, about 300m down on the left is a "racing" or "tuning" shop that will have (I think its called "Moges" or "moags" - cant remember). They have a small parking lot outside their complex and a car audio place next to them which is part of the same building.
Otherwise, at N1 city, next to the Hi-Q (or is it speedy?) is another "tuning" shop which also has from time to time (Autozone or Autostyle maybe).

Otherwise if you head into Epping, I think its Gunners Circle. There is a big Autozone store who will prob have, I am pretty sure I have seen 3 point harnesses in there. Come off N7. At the Pinelands intersection, when you have the Fire station on your right - look left, you should see it.

I can understand when the metro or saps give people kak about not wearing seatbelts, it is there job (making it quite amazing to see any of them doing there job).
But what i don't understand is... How many metro or saps piglets have you seen that drive down the side of the road kicking up dust wear seat belts?
If it's got tits or tyres... it's gonna give you kak!

Doesn't really matter Wade - unless you're more concerned about them dying than about dying yourself..........

Look after your own shit - let other's worry (or not) about theirs

Grew up as a kid where my Step-father and mother didnt wear belts. Things changed over the years(story below). When I came to SA 3 1/2 years ago, my dad and mom was REAL PISSED when I insisted they wear their belts while with me in the car.... or stay at home!

Back in the day when I was still in SA and worked for (then) Imperial Car Rental at Jan Smuts, i went to go and pick up a Transporter Kombi(2.4l Red one). On the way back to the depot, I lost the rear in the (then) tight left hander that goes back to Boksburg/Jet Park (anyone still remembers the old layout of the road before they (re)build that "Engen Sky Stop-petrol station thing...? Anyway, counter steer on a Kombi who's ass is swinging around is useless to say the least. I braced myself for impact, before rail sliding the ....erm.... side rail, knocked out that HUGE board (indicating back to Jan Smuts, to Boksburg/Jet Park) and rolled 3 times down into the ditch. Landed heads up. Finally got out the Kombi after trying every door, and dusted of the glass shards..... Damage - little cut under the left hand "up yours" finger (the way it was bleeding, I thought I cut my hand off   ). To cut a longer story short.... My friend and I drove those cars like maniacs(afterall, it is not OURS, right!?) and had a handfull of scary moments. But we just didnt want to listen..., until one day. BOTH of us in seperate cars had a HUGE moment in the same spot. That is when we decided enough is enough #1 Drive SLOWER #2 Wear BELTS!!!

A week later he wrote off a Toyota Corrola, was saved by his belt. A week later, I rolled the Kombi, saved by my belt and probably from a wheelchair or even ICU....

Pine's accident that day is the EXCEPTION to the rule. What if he was in the same spot, the same day in another (roofed) car..... Do you think he would be so lucky? Didnt think so.... I am going to make a few 'bad friends' by saying the following.... If you want to be stupid enough not to wear belts, then do so on your own account.

Thanks Tony for all the options.

Ordering the special mounting screws from CIP1 this week. Did you know that 62 to 65 Beetles had to have special mounting screws fitted for the belt bolts to then fit into? At $3.75, not too worried but I need one for each anchor point :? so 12 in total

I have a (don't laugh) 1970 Ford F100 custom, this thing did not come with belts, and I have been stopped many times by the metro idiots. they have never said anything about it not having any.

We got pulled over on Saterday in Pretoria by a cop that tried to come into our lane and driver didn't allow him in, so we all step out the car and he starts going off at us so one of the people in the car nicely says to him "sir we wernt been disrespectful to you" and before she can complete her sentence he says to all of us "Are any of you the driver? Good now shut up and get in the car this has nothing to do with you!" So we continue standing there and freind who wasn't able to Finnish what she was saying says you have no reason to disrespect me! I did nothing to you! I spoke nicely to you and you go off at me as if i did something wrong to you! So the cop says to us well im not your friend! So the cop starts writing out fine and writes out a R1250 for driving a over loaded car or something like that so friend calls up his dads friend that knows the chief of police in JHB and explains to him what happens he says a fine for having been overloaded cant be that much, and tells us to take down both cops details so we ask the cop if he wouldn't mind writing his badge number, name and so on down for us and immediately lashes back at us with "You don't need my details!" So again phone up the guy and tell him that they don't want to give us there details so he says well take there registration. As soon as we started taking down his registration he starts telling us that it is against the law to do that and we will be arrested if we do! Well eventually after 2 hours we drove off with there registration of the officers car and a fine of R1250 for been over loaded.

average Joe Public has just been accepting the cops crap for too long and the cops have been abusing that fact.
Its about time that people start fighting back. One at a time, it will all help.

I have thought about driving with a video camera in the car to video the cops doing wrong, then posting it all over the net. Who is supposed to police the police if they decide they are above the law?

Kudus to anyone standing up to the cops. They need to learn that they work for us, not the other way around.

Off topic now, but in Cape Town get hold of councillor JP Smith and report any such incidents with as much info as possible. He gives the assurance that action will be taken.
We all bitch about how bad things are (and a lot is), but doing our own civic duty and taking the responsibility and making the effort to follow something like this through is one of the only ways to fix things.
Even if at times it feels like you're beating your head against the wall, don't stop trying.....

Skymac, get belts & wear them. Although you may feel safer in that thing, you aren't really!!

We had a camera and when we wanted to take photos he said that we would be arrested if we do so and charged for (forgot what he called it)
