Non ACVWSA member's project

Post by VW-rules »

Yesterday I spotted this interesting project in a local workshop.

The finished look will be that of a "Woody" (that can mean whatever you like :D )

I like the way he's used a bus deck lid and tail lights making it instantly recognizable as a VW :hangloose:

If a married man speaks in the forest and his wife is not there to hear him, is he still wrong?

Interested. I wonder how they are planning to ensure a healthy flow of air to the engine, considering the usual routes have been removed

I saw this in an advert on gumtree not too long ago. Something about "we will turn any beetle into a bakkie/station wagon" I dismissed it at the time as a silly hack-job idea, but if the car in the OP's post is being done by the same guys, maybe its not such a bad idea. I like the woody idea - a bit redneck, but still funky.

EDIT: its not the same guys - the advert was up here in JHB:

@vw-rules - any additional info on who is building that car, how much its costing, is it a once off or will they do more?

I saw this in the latest Volks World magazine.

I think it is way cool.

Maybe we can get the guy registered on the forum to follow progress on the project.

The project belongs to a local garage owner. His name is Midge Miles and the garage is Miles motors. His dad, Gary Miles, started the business and he's a Shelby Cobra fanatic. You may have heard of some guys taking a Cobra up Sani Pass? he was one of them.

A few of us local East London 'Air Heads' are meeting at the garage tomorrow evening for a bring and braai. It's in an effort to get a local social club going. Anyone out there who wishes to join us is very welcome. The Garage is off Bowls road in berea underneath Trademart (The old DJ Field building). Call me if you don't know where that is, tel 0829712612.

I'll take more pictures and find out more info then and post it later.

Not much updated on the woody other than the wood work is now under way on the left side too.

Midge took this 'lekker' pic outside the garages on Friday then fiddled with it to get a retro look.
