'57 Oval wrote:Hey guys. I'm Dan, another new comer. I'm in the process of restoring my '57 Oval, well i've been trying to do just that for the 6 years i've had it, but just never seem to get around to it. It's the third beetle i've owned, and definately the most precious. Stock standard with 6Volt electical system and 1100 motor. I joined this forum to share my restoration process with other beetle lovers and to hopefully find some of the parts and advice here that i can't seem to get anywhere else. Like Semaphores for instance, most people don't even know what they are, let alone where you can find them.
Anywayz, that's Dan, and this is me introducing myself.

Hi All! This is a mate of mine and I've been itching to get him on here. He has an awesome ride!! Welcome Dan!!

Hi there, we just bought ourselves a combi, about 15 years old, dark green.
Mainly to use on long trips down to PE, much better for the kids than to be bunched up in a car

Thinking of getting a nice custom paintjob done, can anyone make recommendations? (we're in JoBurg)

Thanks !!

Mornin,

Bit hung over and already at work so apologies in advance:

Mike from Durban.

Always been a VDub fan and only owned a baja bug for a while when I was 21 for beach cruisin. Used to borrow girlfriend's fathers bus (3.0l Ford conversion) to go to Splashy Fen every year!

Just about to buy a black double cab bus I spotted in the Freestate last weekend and am looking forward to givin it some love...see attached pic. Have a friend in Durban who is a major enthusiast and has four of them, so I'm sure Im in good hands...

Will keep you posted...

Mike
