Are Lambo Door Kits Considered Roadworthy?

Post by Type1_2004 »

Hi all,

I want to put shave lambo doors on my beetle but I'm not sure if the car can pass the roadworthy with that mod. Will it pass? Any ideas?

Nope. rather get the c.o.r done 1st. and out of curiosity if you go the lambo way, are you going to use a kit or make your own hinges? the universal hinges will not work on a beetle, hence I canned my lambo door dreams. rather go suicides.

That is correct , the normal lambo hinges do not work because a beetles doors sit inside the door frame and it has no vender to mount it behind .

I have a model like that also Pine. Wish the hinge was that easy to make for a beetle door. Not saying its not possible. But its a mission.

All the panel beaters seem to think its possible but difficult and slightly expensive. I've had rough estimates floating around 3000.00.

What's a vender?

That doesnt sound too expensive for that mod. The average price for a lambo door kit is 10k. So 3k is a steal. But get clear ideas of how the door post will be reinforced, and wether a lifter/shock would be used to push up the door.. If you can get it at that price, GO FOR IT. I sure would be envious. Oh and It wont pass c.o.r though!! And Vender= fender, these afrikaners, lol.

Should have metioned. The universal kit'll be 5500.00. Fitting costs 3000.00. But I'd love to see...
