I arrived early at the show, 7am, to get a shady spot for the 181 . As I had stall at the Auto Jumble I wanted to catch the bargain hunters and find some bargains of my own. (Found a SP steering with hooter and good rim for R150.00)
The Sunday of the 2 day show was extremely organised. The show was full and parking bays had been chalked out. The Crank Handle Club had even allocated each of its registered cars to a specific bay. As my 181 was in the incorrect bay, the ask me to move it.
My place was next to an Old Oak tree, behind a Porsche. This is a steep part of the field and even the 181 was spinning its wheels getting up the hill on the damp grass. The Kubel was moved and I returned to my stall.

Then the stories about a car running away started doing the rounds. It turns out this Studebaker Avanti was parked from where this picture was taken. The Driver got out of his car and forgot to pull the handbrake or put it in gear. (This happen when you belong to a motor club that at the age of 42 I am considered a YOUNG member)
The Car ran down the hill and hit the tree. If it were not for the tree the Stud would have T’ed me nicely between the wheels.

I find this amusing.
The Heritage club with their German cars was allocated a section right opposite the Jaguar Club.
Even better. Every Gun that was on display was pointed at one of the Jags.
Maybe Im reading to much into this but imagine how tense the Fine Jaguar Gentlemen would have been at a show like this 50 odd years ago.
